Introduction to York St John University
Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider.
Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging. The team York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.
As one of the fastest growing universities in the UK over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region.
We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset. York St John University has been a leading education, training and research institution for over 175 years. We stand for equality, ambition and social justice.
Our relationship with local and national employers is strong and as such we have managed to attract a large number of apprentices on a range of apprenticeship pathways, with more to be added to our portfolio in the coming academic years.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the University, working as part of the Apprenticeship Office and making a significant contribution to supporting apprentices in their learning.
Reporting to the Apprenticeship Work Based Learning Tutor Manager and working as part of the Apprenticeship delivery teams across our academic Schools, the successful candidate will play an incredibly important role in supporting and monitoring the progression of apprentices on these programmes.
Responsible for proactively facilitating the tripartite relationship, the successful candidate will thrive in an autonomous environment and possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will, among other responsibilities, facilitate the progression and achievement of apprentices, provide support and advice, maintain accurate records and be the key point of contact for and between apprentices, line managers/workplace mentors and the University’s Apprenticeship team.
Knowledge and experience around apprenticeships would be advantageous, but is not required as training and support will be provided.
Additional information
Though the role is primarily worked remotely, you will be required to have access to your own transport and be able to manage a schedule of visits across several employers along with attending regular meetings, training and delivery at the University campuses. These will mostly be the York campus, but also London where required.
The post will need an enhanced DBS check and children’s barred list check.
