About the Role:
Out of Place are looking for a talented and driven WordPress Developer to join our team. This position will initially cover maternity leave, with the potential for a long-term role. As part of our small, close-knit team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on a variety of exciting digital projects. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver with an extensive background developing Wordpress websites from static designs, including custom theme and plugin development. The role offers the chance to work across the entire digital process, so it would be advantageous (but not essential) for the candidate to have a design/UX background.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, customise, and maintain WordPress websites, ensuring they’re high-performing, secure, and responsive across devices.
* Collaborate closely with the design team to implement, refine, and deliver websites with diverse features and functionalities.
* Contribute to the development of proposals and tender responses, offering creative solutions for new opportunities.
* Keep your skills sharp by staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies, and propose innovative ideas to enhance our projects.
* Take part in the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of client websites.
* Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure websites are error-free before launch.
* Support and mentor the wider development team, sharing knowledge and expertise.
* Work directly with project managers and clients to ensure project requirements and timelines are clearly understood and met.
* Suggest and implement improvements to streamline the website-building process and boost efficiency.
What We’re Looking For:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in WordPress development and web development.
* Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
* Extensive experience developing custom WordPress themes and plugins.
* A solid understanding of front-end technologies and ensuring cross-browser compatibility and responsive design.
* Familiarity with performance optimisation, security best practices, and SEO fundamentals.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
* An understanding of UX and design principles is a bonus.
