LSA role in a specialist provision for children aged 11-19 who have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
A real focus on holistic and restorative practices, creating empathy where possible at every opportunity. The school is far away from punitive measures; manual handling training is only used when there isn't another option.
A practical trial day will take place in school to ensure the role is suitable for you, depending on your availability to start ASAP, notice period, or if you are finishing University.
Can you make the students' lives just a little bit better today, keep them safe, and demonstrate the value of education? In addition, can you keep the children safe? You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA Training.
**Responsibilities include:**
1. Supporting secondary-aged students with EHCPs, including those with Autism, OCD, and varying levels of social anxiety.
2. Engaging in physical work while being pragmatic to make academic progress based on each child's context.
3. Adapting to some anti-social behaviour as part of the role when aiding society's most vulnerable children.
4. Implementing various therapies and holistic processes, recognizing that even small progress is a success.
5. Understanding and addressing needs related to Pathological Demand Avoidance and Pervasive Developmental Disorder.
6. Focusing on the diverse cognitive abilities of each student.
7. Providing positive engagement and a sense of acceptance, using various approaches when traditional talking therapy may not be effective.
8. Setting objectives for students and promoting as much independence as possible, especially for those in assisted living.
