Resource Planning Assistant Manager

Every day our teams are integral to the success of our audit practice. The Central Talent and Capacity team is a resourcing team incorporating Managers, Assistant Managers, and Advisors who work nationally across all Grant Thornton offices to support practice teams to mobilise teams of audit professionals to deliver client work to the highest standard. The Central Talent and Capacity team plays a pivotal role in helping the firm to achieve operational excellence and its business objectives by ensuring optimal utilisation of resources. The role involves working on a diverse set of activities throughout the day in a fast-paced environment that suits those who can challenge senior stakeholders and be future-focused. Our team is growing and going through an exciting period of change, and an exciting opportunity exists for someone who wants to be part of a team focused on excellence with an opportunity to develop in resource management.

A look into the role
As a Resource Planning Assistant Manager in audit, within our team, you will:
1. Work in a professional service environment to support practice colleagues who are client-facing, with resourcing solutions.
2. Manage a large pool of resources split across offices nationally and across different business operating units.
3. Collaborate with and challenge senior stakeholders in the business and interact with trainees on a day-to-day basis.
4. Engage with and work collaboratively with other customer service lead teams such as IS, Training and Development, Recruitment, and Finance.
5. Provide MI insights through excel reporting and use a resource scheduling system to deliver meaningful data to our clients.
6. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office business tools.
7. Mentor or manage juniors to share experience and knowledge of best resourcing practices and efficient ways of working.
8. Exhibit excellent analytical and communication skills.

Joining us as a Resource Planning Assistant Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is experience of working within a Workforce Management, Resource Planning, and Deployment role in a professional services environment.
It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way:
1. Work as part of the Central Talent & Capacity Team to ensure effective resource deployment to meet quality and utilisation goals aligned to the firm’s business plan.
2. Maintain a positive attitude and use your initiative to drive continuous improvements of processes and resourcing principles.
3. Lead with a solution-driven mindset and be proactive in your approach.
4. Demonstrate a proven track record of working as a team and independently.
5. Manage multiple tasks and processes in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
6. Exhibit excellent communication skills developed through regular interaction with senior management and key business stakeholders with the ability to challenge and lead difficult conversations.
7. Work to deadlines and SLA’s without compromising the integrity and accuracy of data.
8. Manage the deployment of specialists locally and across business streams.
9. Strive to maximise utilisation and optimise employment spend nationally.
10. Manage the optimisation of supply and demand across geographies, reporting regularly to management.
11. Provide clarity and challenge around resource allocation, with support from management where appropriate.
12. Work effectively with a range of stakeholders across the business and work in an operational and strategic capacity.
13. Take ownership and responsibility for data accuracy.
14. Carry out a range of administrative and MI reporting tasks to support the team.
15. Act with integrity and in line with our organisational values.
