Band 5 Pharmacy Technician in Chelmsford:
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Duties:
o Dispensing prescriptions (inpatient, outpatient, discharge).
o Conducting ward-based medication reconciliations and assessing medication discrepancies.
o Managing homecare supplies, clinical trials, and outsourced chemotherapy.
o Supervising patient compliance and providing compliance aids.
2. Pharmacy Services:
o Working in main dispensary, clinical trials, and oncology outsourcing.
o Monitoring controlled drugs and maintaining accurate stock records.
o Processing prescriptions through Wellsky ePrescribing and stock control systems.
3. Policy and Safety:
o Supporting medication safety and governance activities.
o Investigating incident reports and ensuring adherence to Trust policies.
4. Communication:
o Providing patient counseling on medication use and side effects.
o Answering drug-related queries from healthcare professionals and patients.
5. IT & Reporting:
o Maintaining pharmacy IT systems, generating reports, and assisting with technical queries.
o Supporting pharmacy system upgrades and data accuracy.
6. Supervisory Duties:
o Overseeing students and ancillary staff during allocated duties.
Person Specification
* Qualifications:
o NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
o Accredited Checking Technician qualification.
o Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Experience:
o NHS or pharmacy setting experience.
o Medication reconciliation and history-taking skills.
* Skills:
o Strong communication and organizational abilities.
o Proficiency in IT systems like Wellsky and ePrescribing.
o Attention to detail and adherence to hygiene standards.
Working Conditions
* Office-based with occasional hospital site visits.
