Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse - East Birmingham
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
Help us make a difference in the community of Small Heath, Bordesley Green and Heartlands wards!
Our 247 Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre Pilot has been commissioned by NHS England to run Mental Health Services in these areas in a new way. We will have an open door and will support any adults who need our help. The service is compassion-based, looking at the whole person and ensuring all aspects of their life are considered.
We are looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, driven individuals within this community, who understand the needs of people in the area and are driven to make a difference.
The post holder will be substantively employed by East Hub CMHT, but fully embedded in the 247 NMHC team for the duration of the pilot.
This opportunity is for a qualified nurse or other registered Mental Health professional to join our fantastic team.
We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable individuals who can effect positive changes for people experiencing severe and enduring mental health concerns - with excellent assessment and risk management skills - alongside all-round Service User centred skills and a genuine desire to work in this area.
You will have experience and confidence in working autonomously in an adult mental health setting and will have skills in engagement, assessment, risk management and care planning. You will be passionate about improving services and bringing about positive change for individuals and the community we serve.
Main duties of the job
1. You will be involved in all aspects of mental health care, assessment, care and support and treatment.
2. Support and engage a caseload of people with mental health problems and their families/carers in collaboration with the wider team.
3. Support the team in partnering with other agencies in the community.
4. Ensure social inclusion and active citizenship for people with Serious/Severe Mental Illness (SMI).
5. Participate in delivering hospitality from the hub.
6. Be part of planning and delivering a range of activities as needed alongside colleagues both inside and outside of the hub.
7. You will have excellent communication and multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team working skills underpinned by a sound knowledge of principles of Recovery, CPA and Mental Health Act legislation.
8. You will need effective time management skills and an ability to prioritise workload. You will be joining supportive and welcoming teams, with access to regular supervision and opportunities for personal and professional development.
