An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planning and Intelligence Manager to join the Digital, Technology and Change directorate.
This key role is central in developing and maintaining the Service’s overall performance management framework including the strategic and corporate planning processes to assist the Senior Leadership Team in developing the Service’s long term strategy.
Key responsibilities of the role will include leading on the provision of a robust and innovative performance data and intelligence service so that the organisation can take an intelligence and risk-led approach in delivering an effective Fire and Rescue Service to the Community.
As a competent leader of people and processes, the role holder will be the department lead developing innovative approaches to achieve performance improvement and identify opportunities for efficiencies. Delivering high quality advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team and the Fire Authority that will support the drive for continuous improvement and evidence based decision making; and to be a member of the Directorate Management Team
The successful candidate will be experienced in business/service planning in a multifunctional organisation, having worked at a management level within an organisation that is focused on quality and performance monitoring. They will also understand the key strategic issues facing local government and how intelligence & performance management informs decision making and contributes to meeting organizational objectives. With a commitment to diversity and inclusion, the role holder will also have strong negotiation and influencing skills, be a competent problem solver and communicate with people at all levels of the Service.
Other responsibilities will include the following.
Representation at strategic boards and national forums (Fire Authority, Home Office, NFCC, HMICFRS).
Managing internal and external consultations producing documentation, procuring suppliers through to facilitating focus groups and panels.
Experience of defining and implementing data standards, data strategy and data governance processes would be beneficial
Whilst this role is hybrid the successful candidate will be required to work from Lewes Headquarters for 2 days per week with flexibility to attend more regularly when needed for meetings and to maintain stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a standard DBS check prior to starting.

DBS and Non-Police Personnel Vetting
All roles at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be subject to either DBS checks (minimum standard level) or a Police vetting process (the latter for roles based at Joint Headquarters in Lewes). The check will take place for the preferred candidate at the end of the selection process, before a final offer of employment can be made.
