Job Description
Our new site in Minworth is now recruiting for a Senior Transport Planner to join their friendly team on a full time permanent basis.
Salary: £35,000 per annum.
Working hours: Any 5 in 7 days, starting between 7am-11am and finishing between 3pm-7pm.
As a Senior Transport Planner you will support the site operation with planning transport, taking into account WTD & EU regulations and compliance legalities.
Key Duties of a Senior Transport Planner:
1. Managing and overseeing the Transport day operation, ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained.
2. Optimising resource and adherence to WTD & drivers’ hours legislation.
3. Planning driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery / collection times, creating and updating daily run summary.
4. Effectively communicating with the Planning team and other depots.
5. Providing 24/7 communication Transport link with Customer Services and Sales Order Processing.
6. Monitoring retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries are made within the specified windows.
7. Finding the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times.
8. Arranging deliveries using nominated contractors for special instruction deliveries, re-deliveries.
9. Communicating any potential failures or changes to the original plan.
10. Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are logged and reported.
11. Liaising and planning drivers in for meetings / courses as required.
Qualifications
1. Significant transport experience in FMCG environment.
2. Attention to detail/accuracy.
3. Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy.
4. Strong communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
5. Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadlines.
6. Able to work as part of a team or individually.
7. Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
8. Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
