Dorking Brewery is a dynamic and growing brewery and pub company located in the heart of Surrey. Our vision is to be the best brewery and pub company in Surrey. This year has seen our turnover grow to £3.2M PA with the acquisition of 4 pubs. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a part-time Finance Director to join our board.
Role Overview
The Finance Director will play a key role in shaping and delivering the financial strategy of the business. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you will ensure the company’s financial health, provide robust financial insights, and support long-term growth. Our aspiration is to find an FD who can lead us to £10M over the next 3 years.
This part-time position requires a commitment of approximately 20-25 hours per week, with one day per week working on-site at our brewery in Dorking and the remaining hours worked remotely.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Strategy, Leadership, and Funding.
* Work with book-keeper and Finance Manager to substantially improve Management reporting, systems, processes and cash management.
* Provide expert financial advice and insights to the Managing Director and Board.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax and audit.
* Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
* Lead the annual budgeting process and create rolling financial forecasts.
* Monitor performance and set budgets, analysing variances and implementing corrective measures.
* Manage cash flow effectively to ensure the business operates smoothly.
* Optimise working capital, including debtor and creditor management.
* Review and enhance financial systems, controls, and processes for efficiency and scalability.
* Lead a thorough review of costs across the business.
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
* Strong Commercial Acumen and pragmatic.
* Excellent knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
* Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Xero, Excel).
Desirable
* Experience in the food & beverage, manufacturing, or hospitality sector.
* Passion for craft beer and understanding of the brewery industry.
