Staff Nurse Band 5 WTE 0.83/31hrs per week
An opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Catheter Lab and pre-assessment for a Band 5 Registered nurse to join our Cardiology team at the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust.
Working with senior cardiology nursing team, you will support and facilitate specialist cardiology nursing care provided in line with evidenced based best practice. Nurse led areas of work include pre-assessment for cardiology procedures and rotating to the cardiac catheter lab and day care ward.
Furthermore, working with the wider team, the post holder will support the smooth running of the cardiology outpatient as well as assisting in other specialist services within the cardiology department. You will need to demonstrate sound nursing skills, commitment to delivery of Quality care, ability to work under pressure with a flexible approach to the needs of the service.

Main Duties of the Job
* The post holder will be required to work within the cardiology department to fit with the needs of service delivery.
* To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Code of Conduct and relevant professional guidelines, to deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing elective and acute procedures in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, cardiology department, and day ward. These are invasive procedures, performed under local anaesthetic and/or sedation, and usually require X-Ray fluoroscopy. This includes planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of patient's care following agreed care pathways and guidelines.
* To assist in the management of the lab/ward supporting senior nursing staff following performance review against the agreed KSF outline and progression through the first gateway.
* The post holder must be able to actively demonstrate and proactively deliver effective and personal care which is safe for patients in a calm, caring, and compassionate manner to every patient, every time. This should be at the core of all care planning which actively involves the patient and where appropriate their relatives/carers.

Education/Qualifications and Training
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
* Assessing & Mentoring Qualification or equivalent
* Degree or working towards
Knowledge
* Understanding of the importance of evidenced based practice
* Cannulation and phlebotomy or willing to undertake
* Understanding of professional and current issues
* Ability to perform ECGs and interpret normal and common arrhythmias
* ILS or willing to undertake
* Management of problem-solving skills
Experience
* Demonstrable previous experience in Acute Setting
* Ward management on a regular basis
* Pre-assessment clinic
Skills
* Ability to plan and prioritize care for patients
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work well both in a team and on own initiative
* Administration of IV Drugs or willing to complete certification
* Evidence of being involved in introducing change
* Good time management and teaching skills
