Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join the Finance Team at North Bristol NHS Trust. As Research Assistant Management Accountant, you will work closely with finance and non-finance colleagues to provide financial information for daily monitoring budgetary performance and to support decision-making processes.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for an ambitious self-starter to join the Management Accounting team. They will work closely with colleagues to provide outstanding financial support and information to the Trust’s Divisions. This role represents an excellent opportunity to develop your management accounting skills within a large and complex organisation. As a department we actively support those that are studying for accountancy qualifications and study support is available.
The successful candidate will be pro-active, comfortable with working with a wide range of people from both a finance and non-finance background, and able to work autonomously. Attention to detail and an ability to work to deadlines are essential.

Education/Training And Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* AAT intermediate / technician level (Level 3) or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience.
* Grade C or above at GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
Work Experience
Essential Criteria
* Experience of a management accounting environment to include all aspects of production, using accounting principles and adhering to SFIs.
* Experience of advising non-financial managers on financial issues.
* Accurate and detailed record keeping.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of spreadsheet and system design to confirm validity of large amounts of data, minimise errors whilst ensuring work is completed in line with financial timescales and procedures.
* Experience of dealing with queries from both internal and external parties.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of finance computer systems, ledgers and coding structure and their application.
* Knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft products e.g., Excel, Access, and Outlook.
* Ability to produce reconciliation controls for the input of large amounts of data.
* Knowledge and use of accounting principles, Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and legislation.
* Quickly understand when outputs are not as planned.
Desirable Criteria
* A working knowledge of the procedures of other departments in finance such as payroll & procurement and the impact on management accounting.
