Job summary The Simulation Department is located within the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust's Postgraduate Education Centre (PEC) and encompasses the following departments: Royal Cornwall Simulation Centre, Resuscitation training, Clinical Skills training, and Postgraduate Medical Education. The department provides a comprehensive programme of simulation and practical skills training for the multi-professional workforce within the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust to provide high quality patient centered care. The Simulation and Clinical Skills Technician will work with the Simulation and Clinical Skills Lead, Consultant Simulation Lead and other members of the Education Faculty. The Technician will contribute to the services delivery of high-quality multi-professional simulation and skills-based education and training programmes to undergraduate and post-graduate doctors, nurses and other professions allied to medicine. The Simulation and Clinical Skills Technician will provide technical support to educational activities and will be responsible for maintaining and operating the high-fidelity human patient simulators (HPS), clinical skills teaching equipment and associated audio-visual & IT equipment within the Simulation Department. The post holder will have responsibility for preparing equipment and training rooms for simulation education and will regularly liaise with our service users and staff whose training and teaching needs are being met. Main duties of the job The post holder will have a friendly and professional demeanour, liaising with all users of the PEC and providing them with information and assistance as required. A summary of the job is as follows: To manage the set up and participate in the delivery of simulation and clinical skills workshops through provision of technical support. To provide support and technical skills to facilitate clinical simulation and skills education delivery and technology-enabled learning within the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust's Simulation Department. Maintain an equipment inventory, which is a record that assists in the services' procurement of equipment. To provide first-line maintenance of simulation, clinical skills and AV equipment used in the educational setting including fault diagnosis. Contribute ideas or solutions to help improve equipment performance or that adapt new pieces of equipment for high fidelity simulation and skills training. To maintain records that will assist the service leads in auditing and evaluation of simulation activities across the Trust.
