An opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Medicine Department at University Hospital Wishaw for a Clinical Fellow from 5 th February 2024 until 5 th August 2024. University Hospital Wishaw Emergency Department sees in excess of 70,000 patients per year. It is a busy District General Hospital and it is expected that we will become the trauma unit for Lanarkshire within the next two years. The Paediatric unit for Lanarkshire is located at Wishaw and as such approximately 25% of our attendances are under the age of 16. We have weekly teaching sessions and have ACCS and HST trainees allocated from the West of Scotland deanery. You will be placed on the junior Emergency Medicine Rota, and you will be allocated an Educational Supervisor during your tenure in the department. NHS Lanarkshire is constantly reviewing its rotas to maintain New Deal compliance together with the new arrangements as set down by the Scottish Government and Scottish Medical Training (SMT). Rota’s therefore, may be subject to change. NHS Lanarkshire has excellent post-graduate libraries and IT facilities. Active post-graduate educational programmes are in place, including dedicated protected teaching sessions for junior doctors. This post is open primarily to applicants who do not require a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship to take up employment in the UK.
