Grants and Bids Manager York Minster Fund
York Minster Fund seeks a Grants and Bids Manager to help secure vital funding for conservation, apprenticeships, and strategic projects through compelling bids.
* Location: York (Hybrid, regular office attendance required)
Who we are.
York Minster Fund is seeking a talented Grants and Bids Manager to join our fundraising team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing funding for one of the UK’s most iconic heritage sites. With a track record of raising significant funds for conservation, apprenticeships, and strategic projects, we are looking for an individual who can help grow our impact through compelling fundraising bids and excellent donor stewardship.
York Minster Fund (YMF) is the principal fundraising partner of York Minster, supporting its restoration, development, and ongoing conservation. Established in 1967, the Fund has played a crucial role in securing funding for major projects, including the restoration of the Great East Window and the development of the Centre of Excellence for Heritage Skills and Estate Management.
Through partnerships with charitable foundations, major donors, corporate supporters, and statutory funders, we ensure the sustainability of York Minster and its legacy for future generations.
About the role.
We are looking for an experienced fundraiser to manage proposal writing, bid submissions, and donor stewardship across trusts and foundations, statutory bodies, major donors, and corporate partners. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Development, you will be key in securing vital funding for restoration work, training initiatives, and strategic projects.
A week in this role could involve crafting compelling donor proposals, attending a candlelit fundraising event, collaborating with the marketing team on storytelling content, or engaging with stonemasons and conservators to understand the unique needs of a funding application.
Key Responsibilities:
* Write and submit tailored, persuasive funding applications to trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies.
* Research and identify potential new funders, ensuring a strong pipeline of funding opportunities.
* Develop engaging donor reports, proposals, and stewardship materials.
* Build relationships with funders, donors, and key stakeholders, ensuring high levels of engagement and stewardship.
* Work with marketing colleagues to secure high-quality images and video content for fundraising materials.
* Assist in organising donor events, including receptions and behind-the-scenes tours.
Who we are looking for.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented fundraiser who can bring creativity, strategic thinking, and excellent writing skills to our team.
However, we are also open to applications from people without fundraising experience who can write well, build relationships with ease, and tell a compelling story.
Recommended Skills & Experience:
* Experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing gifts from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, or high-net-worth individuals.
* Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft compelling funding applications.
* Strong relationship-building skills, with experience in donor stewardship.
* Ability to analyse budgets and develop cases for support.
* Organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Confident in using IT and CRM systems for donor management.
* Knowledge of the heritage or cultural sector and its funding landscape.
* Experience in securing multi-year funding for capital or apprenticeship projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on the future of York Minster. If you are a passionate fundraiser looking for a role where no two days are the same, we would love to hear from you.
