The primary purpose of this job is to oversee production shifts, ensuring operational efficiency and providing immediate assistance for breakdowns. Responsibilities include conducting both reactive and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to uphold quality and availability standards. Safety is paramount; thus, securing equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and conducting risk assessments are critical duties. Monitoring plant performance to pre-empt failures and maintaining cleanliness are also key tasks. Collaboration with supervisors, contributing to improvement initiatives, and participating in project discussions are expected. Additionally, the position requires electrical support during shutdowns, ensuring shift coverage, and flexibility to undertake various tasks as needed by management.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and assist during production shifts, providing immediate support for any plant breakdown and provide cover for production operators at peak periods of the shift.
2. Perform both reactive and preventive electrical maintenance to ensure plant reliability, minimize downtime, and uphold product quality.
3. Collaborate with the maintenance team to execute maintenance plans and lubrication routines effectively.
4. Prioritize safety by ensuring all electrical plants and equipment are guarded and safe, and that staff are aware of potential hazards.
5. Adhere to the company's safety policies, The Health and Safety at Work Act, and any additional safety directives issued.
6. Engage with the company's permit to work system, conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing controls to mitigate risks to safe levels.
7. Observe plant operations during production, anticipate potential failures, minimize operational interruptions, and maintain safe plant operations. Log any issues for shift handovers.
8. Maintain exemplary cleanliness in the workshop and factory areas.
9. Support the Maintenance Supervisor and Works Engineer with local project work, ensuring high-quality equipment and workmanship.
10. Propose enhancements and modifications to the plant, and discuss these suggestions with the maintenance team for evaluation.
11. Offer proactive Electrical support during scheduled shutdowns and weekly maintenance intervals.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
1. Possess a solid secondary education.
2. Time served or suitably recognised qualification in production or electrical engineering (e.g HNC, EAL Level 3 NVQ in Electrical or electronic engineering).
3. Demonstrable practical experience in both reactive and preventative electrical maintenance.
4. Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and experience in relevant software (e.g design and calculation software).
5. Understanding of basic programming to allow fault PLC finding.
