We are looking for a passionate Biology and Medical Science Tutor to join the high achieving Science department. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver inspiring lessons, bring knowledge and experience to the curriculum, and have a desire to teach beyond the specification, believing every student can succeed. Appreciation that the commitment to delivering outstanding educational and outcome goes beyond the classroom
All staff within the Trust need to have a commitment to professional development, an enthusiasm for team work and a passion for improvement.
While a teaching qualification is desirable, we will consider applications from non- qualified graduates. Graduates looking to start a career in teaching at the Sixth Form College will be allocated a reduced timetable with comprehensive support and mentoring. Future opportunities to obtain a teacher qualification will be considered.
Biology department
The Science department consists of an experienced team of practitioners that are student focused. Lessons are designed to be as impactful as possible and the department has a collaborative ethos through sharing good practice and resources.
We are an outstanding provider of WJEC Level 3 Medical Science with strong links to the exam board, local universities and employers.
Our ethos is to engage students in lifelong learning within a nurturing environment. Supporting their future aspirations across a range of employment areas such as; Healthcare, Medical Sciences, Sports sciences and Medical Research areas. Our team aims to provide all learners with a set of skills to excel in their future Jobs, apprenticeships or degree courses.
We are looking for a colleague who is equally committed to our goal of providing the best education for our learners, who is willing to be innovative and improve course materials alongside a team of equally committed individuals. Prior experience of the course, similar courses or a healthcare profession, is not essential but would be a welcome addition.

* Number of Staff: 8 teachers across Biology and Medical Science; 2 Biology/Medical Science Technicians

Day to Day Expectations of a Teacher
A full time teacher will have 22.5 hours per week contact with students, split over 5 Teaching groups (15 periods) with 5 additional periods for preparation & marking.
On a Tuesday staff departmental meetings / all staff CPD takes place after college, finishing at 5.20pm.
Throughout the year there are a number of whole college events, (open evenings, parent evenings, Interview day, enrolment and briefings) at which attendance is required.
Common resources are shared within departments and there are regular opportunities for professional development, delivering extracurricular student clubs and wellbeing / social activities.

* a mentor to help you through the first year (in particular);
* support from your curriculum manager and director of faculty; and
* an extensive programme for all new staff to help induct you into College life as well as to develop your approach to teaching
