This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team of professionals including doctors, nurses, counsellors and administrators at the Shropshire and Mid-Wales Fertility Centre. The post holder will be expected to perform practical and administrative tasks to support the scientific team and broader department in our state-of-the-art assisted conception department. The post holder will work within a team of clinical scientists, scientist trainees and practitioners within the broader multi-professional team.
Assisting the scientific team as a healthcare science practitioner, in providing assisted conception treatments. This includes practical work as well as administrative tasks and assisting with procedures such as IVF and ICSI in the laboratory.
The post-holder will be assessed for proficiency in every task before carrying them out routinely. Work is performed under a degree of supervision, and will be checked on a sample/random basis by senior colleagues as the post holder develops in proficiency. A degree in Biological Sciences or related subject is a pre-requisite for the position in order for the post-holder to understand the basic principles behind the scientific techniques and practices used in the laboratory.
The post-holder is required to carry out the aspects of diagnostic semenology and reproductive science outlined below, diligently and to a high standard, in the assisted conception unit. The following presents an outline of the main duties of the post. The post-holder is expected to possess a high level of proficiency and be capable of independent work within the Fertility laboratories. The post holder will act at all times in a responsible and professional manner towards patients, colleagues and others with whom they may have contact in the course of their work.
