Dental nurses help with a variety of tasks, depending on the dentists' needs. However, there are specific job duties they may complete each day. Here are a few examples of job duties for a dental nurse:\nSterilise equipment for use\nTake notes when the dentist works with a patient\nCheck-in patients at reception\nEnsure each patient has filled out the proper paperwork\nPrepare materials for the dentist to make cavity fillings\nMaintain a calm environment\nComfort any nervous patients\nProvide help during surgery\nRinse patients' mouths during procedures\nHand equipment to the dentist during procedures The Dental Nursing Course is aimed at trainees who are already working in a practice, and want to obtain a recognised qualification (SVQ Level 3), leading to GDC registration.\n\nMentor Training Centre offers a route to qualification based on flexibility for both the Trainee and the Dentist/Practice Manager. Our delivery offers an alternative to online courses because the trainee benefits from classes and hands-on tutorials - plus itâs cost-free up to age 25 as weâre fully funded by SDS (Skills Development Scotland). And although we offer the same qualification as Further Education Colleges, we differ because the Trainee is able to work and develop her/his skills in a practice while wage-earning.\nBoth in teaching and assessing, we employ a team of committed and fully qualified staff, with many years of occupational experience behind them. Their aim is to ensure trainee qualification with minimum disruption within the surgery during monitoring visits. Assessors will plan and organise suitable times for delivering underpinning knowledge, undertaking assessments, observing workbase tasks and providing constructive feedback on performance. All assessors demonstrate high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. In addition to regular monitoring visits, the trainee is encouraged to attend tutorials for the progression and completion of their portfolio in preparation for final examination.\n Candidates must be educated to Standard Grade or equivalent level, ideally in at least four subjects including English. (Candidates without these qualifications are welcome to enquire for advice).\n
