An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic colleague to join our Respiratory team as a Clinical fellow with a view to gain skills and competencies towards a Specialist training number with great support to present research, do quality improvement and experience in Respiratory medicine.
This would suit someone wishing to gain experience in RESPIRATORY MEDICINE with a view to entering specialist training, CESR, or a non-consultant grade career in respiratory. Anyone completing foundation year 2 (or equivalent) or beyond would be an ideal candidate and would ideally continue in post for up to 2 years before moving on for wider experience. They will gain experience in clinic and on the wards and would support the service. They would be offered funding and training to Ultrasound level 1 if they wished with Chest drain and endoscopy experience.

Main duties of the job
1. Inpatients - Care of Respiratory Unit patients and providing advice to inpatients in other areas with support of the Respiratory ward consultant, and alongside Respiratory specialty trainees. I:4 weekend support on the Respiratory Ward.
2. Outpatients - The successful candidate will support some respiratory clinics with the support of consultants.
3. The successful candidate can be supported to develop procedural skills in pleural procedures, including medical Thoracoscopy and bronchoscopy.
4. Maintaining a portfolio and logbook of procedures. The applicant can be supported towards achieving accreditation in thoracic ultrasound.
5. Attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings.
6. Participation in Mortality & Morbidity and Education and Audit meetings and case reviews.
The post holder will be supervised / mentored by the consultant team. They will participate in annual appraisal and will be provided with support and guidance for revalidation.
