Full Time / Part Time - (Full-time Working 36.50 Hours Per Week)
Grade 5 £40,221 - £48,474
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a vibrant Finance team, managing the work of one of four teams within Schools Financial Services, overseeing school compliance and reporting as well as managing a team of dedicated finance professionals.
We are seeking an experienced finance manager with a proven track record to join Schools Financial Services, which is a trading organisation within Birmingham City Council with an annual income target, operating in a highly competitive market offering financial and business support services.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, both in Finance and in the service, as well as working closely with stakeholders, including customers.
Further details about this opportunity:
1. This role will require a customer focused outlook with responsibility for the strategic planning of financial resources as part of the Senior Management Team.
2. This role will require you to have experience of leading and managing staff, establishing priorities and directing both strategic and operational work to ensure the effective delivery of services to schools.
3. You will take a lead role in the delivery of the Local Authority's financial monitoring function, as it applies to maintained schools, and will engage and work with other service areas across the Directorate and beyond to ensure that financial risks to Birmingham City Council are minimised.
4. As part of this role you will need excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, together with strategic financial management experience, to enable you to appropriately support, advise and challenge Headteachers, School Governors and Interim Executive Boards in schools that are in financial difficulty.
