Currently recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer for the company’s Advanced Technology Centre based in Dyce, Aberdeen. This role would suit a versatile and hands-on engineering professional who is accustomed to being involved in the design, assembly, and testing stages of R&D-focused environments.
The Automation Engineer will work alongside the Automation Team to take automations from R&D conception to the completion stage. The post holder will provide remote or onsite support to laboratories for troubleshooting, system upgrades, and integration. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will periodically install brand new in-house developed systems at client sites, as well as provide training.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Driving automation projects throughout their life cycle from conception to final implementation.
* Offering proficient remote and onsite support to laboratories for troubleshooting, upgrades, and integration of systems.
* Installing and configuring innovative, in-house developed systems at client sites.
* Conducting thorough training sessions for clients to ensure optimal system utilisation and proficiency.
* Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
* Staying up to date with the latest automation technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance project efficiency.
* Travelling to client site installations and training sessions in the Middle East, North America, as well as the company’s main manufacturing sites located in France and the United States.
Experience / Qualifications:
* A degree qualification in a Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science discipline (or similar) is essential.
* Previous experience in a similar Automation, Control Systems, or Instrument Engineer type role is essential.
* Experience with LabVIEW would be preferred.
* C, C++, and C# programming experience would be preferred.
* Applicants should have sound knowledge of acquisition and control systems, as well as motion and machine vision applications and their usage on commercial systems.
* Applicants should be accustomed to working with electrical circuit diagrams, as well as 2D and 3D design drawings.
* Experience within the petroleum sector of the oil and gas industry would be preferred.
