What the Job Involves The role involves maintaining and repairing the council's fleet of vehicles and plant equipment. This includes conducting inspections, diagnosing faults, and performing repairs to ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and comply with legal standards. You will be responsible for providing effective support in workshop operations, carrying out MoT tests, managing administrative processes, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires a flexible approach, including working split shifts, weekends, and being part of the standby team. Skills NVQ Level 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent Qualified Commercial Vehicle Inspector (VOSA accreditation) Current vocational LGV Category C driving licence (HGV 2) Strong diagnostic skills for commercial vehicles Intermediate welding and motor vehicle electrical skills Experience operating computer and manual systems (Excel, Word, Outlook) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, transport legislation Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and adapt to changes
