The postholder's duties will be primarily at the Neurophysiology department at the John RadcliffeHospital. This post's focus is a contribution to the EEG video-telemetry service and reporting ofsleep studies. This includes epilepsy pre-surgical assessment utilising intracranial recording (adultintracranial only). The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams dealing withepilepsy and sleep disorders in the trust and as part of the Children's Epilepsy Surgery Network(CESS). There is currently no on-call commitment. The principal duties of the post-holders will be to contribute to the running of the diagnostic EEG,paediatric and adult epilepsy (including pre-surgical evaluation), sleep disorders in adults andchildren. There will also be the opportunity to undertake a specialty clinic either in sleep or NCS/EMG.While a wide-ranging knowledge of neurophysiology will therefore be required and is one of thespecific attractions of the post, the posts will also suit applicants with the specific subspecialtyinterest in epilepsy and sleep disorders. The post-holders will be required to participate in the urgent adult and paediatric neurophysiologyrota, which at present, provides an in-hours weekday service, and provides cover duringcolleagues' leave of absence. The day-to-day activities will include performing or supervisingreporting of standard EEG and video-telemetry, supporting clinical meetings and case discussions,and conducting EMG or other specialty clinics. The post-holders will also be responsible forsupervising and guiding registrar and physiologists within the Neurophysiology department. The candidate will be able to express a subspecialty interest to complement the department, andpreference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate subspeciality interest and training inepilepsy and sleep. The successful candidate will work with three full-time consultants and one part time, to provide acomprehensive specialist diagnostic clinical neurophysiology service with some responsibility forneurology, for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT), the ThamesValley, and beyond.
