Job Role: Chef
What does a care home Chef do? In general, working in a care home kitchen means being part of a small team preparing and serving meals to the residents of the home. You need to be aware of good nutrition and be able to cater for special dietary requirements, which are more common among the older community.
Requirements:
1. 12+ months experience as head chef.
2. Chef certifications or years of experience cooking English-based food and running a kitchen.
3. Ability to cook for 30+ people in one sitting.
4. Capability to cook from fresh produce and prepare English-style dishes.
5. Availability to work from 6 AM to 6 PM.
6. Ability to cook on the spot if a patient does not like what is offered.
7. Comfortable with IDDSI training (training will be provided).
8. Ability to work with 1 or 2 kitchen assistants (KAs).
9. Ability to bake cakes and pastries.
Additional Experience: Some experience working in a catering environment is preferred.
Schedule:
Can work between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (generally 8–10-hour shifts).
Other Requirements:
* Right to work in the UK and can commit to 12+ months.
* Enhanced DBS (can be applied for).
* Availability to work 20 - 30+ hours per week.
