Lead Structural Design / Façades Design Engineer (up to £90k)
Location: London (Hybrid or Remote)
Job Summary
My client is a company that has been in operation for nearly 50 years in mainland Europe and in the UK for over 25 years. They specialize in the full design, fabrication, supply, and installation of bespoke architectural precast concrete facade cladding and other bespoke elements. They have developed long-standing relationships with most leading UK Developers, Contractors, and Consultants alike.
The company has recently secured some notable new contracts and is now looking to appoint an experienced structural engineer to be the lead Engineer in the UK for all design aspects relative to the manufacture, supply, and installation of the company’s products.
They currently have a 30-strong design team based in mainland Europe, which includes both engineers and design technicians, but are now looking to establish a design team in the UK to support the existing UK operations and commercial teams. Currently in the UK, the design is carried out using a combination of the European design team as well as UK-based design consultancies for final approval and checking by UK chartered engineers.
Ideally, the candidate will be a chartered structural design engineer with a strong interest/understanding of façade projects, but they would also consider candidates that are near chartered or incorporated engineers with relevant experience. They can also consider applications from design managers with strong facades project experience who could manage design from the European team and network of consultants.
As this role is a new position, it provides the successful candidate time to get up to speed with current processes and operations before taking full ownership of the UK operations design offering. There is also an opportunity for the role to be tailored to key skill sets offered by the successful candidate.
