Job Description
Company Overview
Teledyne e2v is a global leader in specialised components and subsystems for innovative solutions in medical, science, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. The imaging sensors developed and tested at the Chelmsford site have been used on humanity's most important space imaging missions, including the Hubble Telescope, Kepler, GAIA, Mars Rovers, New Horizons, and Rosetta.
Space Imaging is expanding its portfolio of projects to develop Front End Electronics (FEE) systems and full payloads for Space applications. Some systems require mechanical mounting of optics and electronics to survive extremely high levels of shock and vibration associated with launch.

The engineer will be critically involved with requirement derivation/flow down, review of requirements, and requirements management with respect to opto-mechanical technologies. Conducting tolerance analysis and thermal, static, and dynamic analysis of opto-mechanical components and systems will be expected in this role. Design of mechanical components to support opto-mechanical system assembly and verification is also expected, along with hands-on support during opto-mechanical system integration and testing.
The role includes the development of new design solutions from concept design through to the generation of manufacturing drawings, including definition of appropriate materials and generation of gate review documentation. The engineer will work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader, Process Engineers, Project Lead Engineers, Optical Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure that customer requirements are met.
