Job Title: Butchery Supervisor (Twilight shift)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £34,980.00 per annum
Contracted hours: 40 hours per week
Working Days: Thursday to Sunday
Shift Pattern: 10 Hour Shifts, 14:00 - 00:30

The Butchery Supervisor will be responsible for a team of c. 3-10 people within the department and will support the Head of Butchery and Butchery Production Manager to recruit, train and develop the team. You will ensure all orders are correctly packaged and loaded onto vehicles on a weekly basis, and will have responsibility for ensuring compliance and supporting audits and inspections of the organisation.
Some responsibilities of the role include:
1. To assist the Head of Butchery and Butchery Production Manager to recruit, train and develop the team both for new positions and succession planning.
2. Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, solutions-oriented, and customer service focused culture through coaching and mentoring the team and encouraging two-way communication.
3. Listen to and share employee, customer, and stakeholder feedback and review and suggest ideas and actions to improve employee engagement and Best Companies feedback.
4. Ensure that the department demonstrates professionalism and delivers an awesome customer experience to both internal and external customers.
5. Coach, mentor and support the team, provide feedback, review recognition and issues raised.
6. Conduct team briefs, return to work interviews, staff searches, 121’s, induction and absence reviews in line with company policies and procedures.
7. Maintain all butchery-related equipment in a safe and satisfactory condition, adhering to manufacturers’ recommendations and prevailing legislation.
8. Ensure that the cleanliness and standards are always maintained within the Butchery, in line with company policies, Safe Systems of Work, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP requirements.
9. To provide management cover for operational colleagues during their absence.
10. Share ideas and knowledge that will contribute to innovative ways of working that improve company performance and employee engagement in line with the business strategy, and within the departmental budget.
11. To disclose any evidence of product safety, legality, quality, or integrity issues.
12. To report all accidents and promote best practices in Health and Safety and contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees, workers, and visitors on site.
The Ideal Candidate
* I.T Literacy, Numeracy, and a good level of English.
* Customer Service Focus, Excellent communication, interpersonal, relationship building, and stakeholder management skills.
* An action-oriented individual, who is solutions-focused, can manage multiple priorities and deliver results on time.
* A good team player, with high attention to detail and good problem-solving skills that follows processes in place and participates in sharing ideas for improvements.
* Experience working as a Team Leader, Butchery Administrator or in a coaching & supporting role within a fast-paced production environment.
* Experience leading a production team and managing people in all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
* Coaching, mentoring, and team-building skills.
* Good communication skills and the ability manage multiple demands, follow instructions and ask for help where needed.
* Approachable and adaptable individual with a can-do attitude.
* Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift heavy boxes for 8 hours per day.
* Good attention to detail and the ability to identify products falling below required standards.
* Commitment to working as part of a team to deliver great results.
* Experience and relevant qualifications in Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP procedures.
* Experience working within a cold-store meat production environment.
* Experience or knowledge of Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP procedures.
* Experience working to budgets and cost management strategies.
