Job Description
REMIT:
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work with an elite rugby club, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the game and continue to evolve. The successful candidate will be responsible for exploring, understanding and interrogating data in order to help shape the future of our squad in line with our distinctive playing philosophy and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leverage cutting-edge technology and data analysis to identify players who can make a meaningful impact in our environment
2. Work with, interrogate and interpret large data sets to provide compelling insights to the Director of Rugby, Director of Recruitment & Strategic Projects and wider rugby performance leadership team
3. Identify trends, patterns and outliers in player performance data to uncover hidden potential
4. Develop statistical models to predict player success and potential impact within the Saints environment
5. Maintain a player database with detailed records, ensuring it is accurate, up to date and accessible as required to inform recruitment decision making
6. Deliver clear, concise reports and presentations on player assessments and recruitment opportunities
7. Communicate complex data insights effectively in a meaningful way to a wide range of stakeholders
8. Proactively challenge conventional thinking with (evidence-based) bold, creative insights
9. Fully understand the intricacies of player eligibility criteria in order to make robust recruitment recommendations
10. Contribute to broader insight-based discussions regarding optimisation of on pitch performance as required
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
1. Proven experience in data analysis, ideally within elite sports or a high performance environment
2. Proficiency with data visualisation and modelling tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL, R, Python or similar)
3. A solid understanding of rugby performance metrics
