As a registered nurse you will be responsible for supportingyour manager in providing a high quality service across all specialities andsupporting the patient through their journey through the out-patient department
Main duties of the job
1. Prioritise the care requirements for identified patients.
2. Organise and monitor the work and performance of juniorcolleagues providing constructive feedback, advice and on-going support.
3. Assist in the management and organisation of work asrequired.
4. Monitor progress of work within the unit, recognise changingpriorities, implement corrective actions within own limits and inform therelevant people.
5. Take responsibility for own continuing professionaldevelopment and maintenance of personal development plan, identifying owndevelopment needs.
6. Act as a role model and support professional development ofall students and junior staff.
7. Act as a mentor to assigned learners and to teach andsupport them through their competency assessments as required.
8. Diffuse challenging behaviour, ensuring that the situationis managed in a sensitive way.
9. Assume responsibility and management of the clinicalenvironment as required.
10. Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self andothers in own work area.
11. Identify and assess potential risks in work activities andhow to manage these risks appropriately.
12. Take immediate and appropriate action in relation to adverseincident reporting utilising the hospital incident reporting system.
13. Support the department in reducing hospital acquiredinfection and comply with the Trusts policies on infection, prevention andcontrol, maintaining competency to effectively discharge theseresponsibilities.
