Provide seamless care and interventions in partnership with women and other care providers during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period which: Are appropriate for womens assessed needs, context and culture. Promote their continuing health and well-being. Are evidence-based. Are consistent with the management of risk. Draw on the skills of others to optimise health outcomes and resource use. Refer women who would benefit from the skills and knowledge of other individuals; to an individual who is likely to have the requisite skills and experience to assist at the earliest possible time. Care for and monitor women during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal period, offering the necessary evidence-based advice and support on baby and self-care under the supervision of a qualified midwife.
