Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for applicants interested in working for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at Band 5 level across a variety of rotations which includes: Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Care of the elderly, Front of House, Stroke and Musculo-skeletal outpatients. Experience will be gained within uni-professional, as well as multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary working. Staff may rotate between all Trust sites.
The physiotherapy service operates 24 hours per day across 7 days. This is currently supported by an early, day and late shift pattern along with night shift and on-call cover for respiratory physiotherapy led NIV service at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

Main duties of the job
* To maintain a high standard of clinical record keeping in accordance with CSP guidelines and trust wide physiotherapy standards for documentation.
* To attend ward rounds or departmental meetings as appropriate.
* To attend relevant post graduate lectures and in-service training to consolidate undergraduate knowledge and increase skills appropriate to each rotation.
* To become competent in the provision of the emergency management of respiratory care.
* To participate in the emergency evening, extended working day, weekend and bank holiday rotas for respiratory care (including critical care and incorporating non-invasive ventilation).
* To participate in the seven-day working and Bank Holiday rota for inpatient services.

* To assess and treat an independent physiotherapy caseload.
* To work as part of the physiotherapy team under the supervision of senior physiotherapy staff.
* The rotational element of the role consolidates undergraduate skills and knowledge across a range of therapeutic modalities.

Qualifications / Professional Registration
Essential
* BSC Honours degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
* Registered Physiotherapist with the Health Professionals Council
* Evidence of continued professional development through self-directed learning and in-service training record
Desirable
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Experience and knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of or experience in coaching and mentoring practices and tools
* Knowledge of or experience in Quality improvement tools, techniques and methods
Desirable
* Pre-registration experience in core areas e.g. orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory

* It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
