About the area
The role of Finance is to support the appropriate stewardship of the University’s finance through the provision of strategic financial advice, establishment of a financial management framework, financial management tools, procurement, management of the University’s Investment and Endowment portfolio, as well as financial oversight and accountability for finance and transactional operations.
Finance undertakes this role through three core pillars: Financial Compliance, Financial Performance, and Procurement.
In undertaking this role, Finance operates support across the University, from advising the Vice-Chancellery, Executive and Senior leadership team on strategy and performance to supporting staff and students in their purchases and travel arrangements.
About the opportunity
* Maintain and monitor financial matters relating to research income.
* Interpret complex research contracts/agreements, including local, state, national, and international, to ensure financial compliance at a corporate level.
* Establish, monitor, prepare and maintain detailed accounting records for individual research projects; this includes establishing finance schedules for budgets, milestones, invoicing dates, financial reporting, and updating any variations.
* Prepare and present, as per individual contracts, monthly/quarterly/6 monthly or annual reports and financial statements; conduct regular account reconciliations, identify grants that require audit.
About you
* Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency.
* Substantial knowledge and experience of administrative and financial accounting practices and procedures at an appropriate level.
* Ability to analyse and problem-solve situations.
* Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, and e-mail.
* Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
