About the role
Join Essity as a Warehouse Operator Apprentice and over 14 months you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge in all supply chain warehouse functions including unloading, picking, dispatch, and stock control. Combined with this, you will learn how to safely operate the machinery on site, interact with customers, and understand how technology supports the operation of a warehouse.
We have 2 positions available, one based in Skelmersdale and the other based in Ashton Under Lyne. You will work Monday to Thursday 8.00 am - 4.00 pm and Friday 8.00 am - 3.00 pm.
As part of the learning experience, you will be required on occasion to switch to shift; therefore, you will need to be 18 years old by the start date. The attractive shift pattern allows you to work four 12-hour shifts (two days and two nights) followed by four days off with longer shift breaks of 18 days several times a year.
What you will do
Through a combination of on-the-job learning and support from a tutor, you will have the opportunity to learn and complete the following:
1. Understanding the importance of warehouse safety and environmental issues
2. Operating all warehouse equipment and machinery in a safe manner – counterbalance/reach trucks, ride-on pallet trucks
3. Completing daily machine safety checks
4. Taking deliveries and completing quality checks of incoming goods
5. Storing goods and moving stock in the warehouse through various methods
6. Picking and packing orders
7. Operating the warehouse management system
8. Reworking products
9. Undertaking daily stock counts
10. Assisting with customer returns
11. Cleaning/supporting the maintenance of high-level housekeeping standards
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will achieve a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship providing a strong platform to develop a long-lasting career with Essity.
Who You Are
We would love to hear from you if you have a minimum of GCSEs at grades D/3 or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English. You will also demonstrate:
1. The ability to effectively apply health and safety standards
2. A willingness to work with others as part of a team
3. The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
4. Be dedicated to completing tasks under tight deadlines
