Renishaw design and manufacture high quality metrology instrumentation, control systems. and innovative products. The design group is growing and requires extra support. Therefore, aEDA Librarian / EDA Support Technician is required to work within a busy, vibrant PCB design environment, providing support for the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) library plus some development EDA/PCB design tools.

The EDA team support teams of both electronic design engineers (using schematics) and PCB designers, developing with both Zuken and Altium electronic design tools. The support the EDA libraries including part data, circuit symbols, 3D component representation, component footprints, and PCB layout conforming to IPC recommendations where possible. In addition to this the EDA team also provide support and maintain the Zuken Cable & Panel tools and library. These EDA tools service all the Renishaw electronic design community from concept through to production.
The main feature of the role will be Data entry of the EDA library. The role will require regular contact with Electronic Designers, Production Engineers and all users of all the EDA tools.
Responsibilities
* Create electronic component part data, using computer aided design (CAD) library tools
* Aid development of the EDA Software tools and library
* Provide support for EDA Software users
* Read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and electronic circuit symbols
* Work and liaise with PCB, project design and production team members
Key requirements
* A time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electronics, Engineering or an associated discipline
* Some Technical knowledge of PCBs, electronic components and design documentation
* Understanding of existing Renishaw processes would be an advantage.
* An interest in electronics and PCB Design
* PC literate and familiarity with Microsoft applications
* Attention to detail and quality of work.
Desirable Requirements
* Familiarity with the use of CAD library tools (Electrical or Mechanical) and 3D part modelling
* Knowledge and ability to work to IPC standards
Person specification
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they have excellent skills in accuracy, good attention to detail and a logical approach to problem solving. The individual should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be able to work well within a team environment. Having the ability to work to predefined time scales.
