Specialty Doctor in Substance Use

Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor:
A doctor appointed to this grade:
1. shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);
And
1. shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);
Or
1. shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.
Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, part time (30 hours per week) post based in The Esk Centre, Musselburgh.
Fixed term 0.8wte part time (8 Programmed Activities) specialty doctor post. The post is vacant and offers a fantastic opportunity to develop an interest in addiction medicine and psychiatry. Working with an enthusiastic team of clinicians in a vibrant, rapidly developing, and supportive service, this post offers the opportunity to develop clinical and professional competence in a purposeful and supervised manner.
The post holder will be an experienced medical practitioner who will provide care to patients with a range of drug and alcohol use and dependency. He/she will have a special interest in the psychological, physical and social problems of this group. They will have the skills and knowledge to develop effective communications and working links with the Primary Care Team and Mental Health Services, as well as a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies.
