Aurora Redehall School
Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Redehall School, in Smallfield, Surrey supports children aged 6- years with ASD as a primary need in KS1 and KS2. We’re currently looking for a SENCo for our school. You will be working with the Head of School in all aspects of leadership and management and will take responsibility for managing and developing the SEND provision across the school across both KS1 and KS2.
Aurora Redehall School is linked to Caterham Education Centre, they share the same Principal and Head of School, however each site has its own Assistant Head and team of Teachers and TAs.. There is also a full therapy team on site to support staff and students. Although the sites operate separately, students and staff do cross between sites.

Key Duties:
7. To play a key role in the overall smooth running of the school.
8. To lead by example of his/her practice, and by positively encouraging, coaching and mentoring support the training and development for all members of the team.
9. Promote best practice and contribute to the aims and ethos of the school through inset and CPD for new teachers.
10. To work with the Head of School to ensure that the school offers a high quality, exciting, engaging, well resourced, differentiated and well matched curriculum for all children.
11. Ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities in accordance with each pupil EHCP and their defined SEND assessment.
12. Oversee the day-to day operation of a school’s special education policy.
13. In relation to each pupil’s EHCP and defined SEND assessment, coordinate and deploy the school’s provision with regard to its policies, staffing and resources.
14. Communicate with parents/carers, school employees, other agencies, and local authorities on the progress of pupils and the effectiveness of intervention and support strategies.
15. Ensure that there is an integrated approach to schools SEN provision generally and for specific pupils, incorporating the deployment of staff, including therapist, resources, strategies and the types of support and intervention.
16. Exercise a key role in advising and assisting the Head of School with the strategic development of SEN policy and provision, including reviewing, and formulating policies.
17. Carry out safeguarding duties as required.
18. Lead and manage the school’s therapy offer.
19. Prepare information and carry out annual statutory reviews or specific case conferences.
20. To keep abreast of developments in SEN (., research, changes to the law) and inform SLT and Head where appropriate.
21. To be open to lead in a curriculum area across all Surrey Schools
22. To develop positive relationships within the school, within the Surrey Schools and the wider Aurora Team and externally, which support the running and developing of the school towards and sustaining outstanding.

Skills and Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications
23. QTS or QTLS is essential.
24. Accredited training in specific areas of special education,. Autism, Dyslexia etc. desirable.
25. Management/leadership qualification desirable.
26. NPQSL/H/SENDCo or willingness to achieve within 2 years desirable.
Essential Experience
27. Proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching within relevant key stages and/or special needs environment.
28. Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
29. Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
30. Effective team management and working collaboratively and effectively with others.
31. Communicating effectively to a wide range of different audiences though a range of different mediums.
32. Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution
33. Effective relationships working successfully with a range of external agencies.
