About the Role
The newly created, Head of Community Safety will play a key role in unifying Community Safety and Enforcement services in Haringey, delivering on initiatives to ensure a safe and secure borough for residents and businesses.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Environment, you will lead the strategic development of the Community Safety service, collaborating with various partners to implement effective safety strategies. Your responsibilities will include overseeing key services such as Noise Nuisance, ASB, CCTV, and managing relationships with key organisations such as the Metropolitan Police to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.
You will also manage operational delivery across the borough, addressing issues related to Serious Gang Violence and Hate Crime, among others. This role requires agile working across borough boundaries, resource management and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Additionally, you will lead the Boroughs Prevent strategy, act as the principal advisor on Community Safety, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a safe and secure environment for the Haringey community.

About You
You are a dynamic leader with a proven track record of partnering with diverse organisations to address crime, antisocial behaviour, violence, and environmental issues. Your experience leading multi-disciplinary teams at a senior level, ideally within a local authority setting, demonstrates an ability to drive impactful change. You will need to possess a strategic focus and exceptional negotiation skills, enabling you to manage and coordinate a wide array of services seamlessly.
Operationally savvy, you must have a sound understanding of the relevant enforcement policies and court procedures. You will have a passion for community engagement and have experience in leading on community-focused initiatives that meet the needs of diverse groups. Above all, you will have a track record in delivering complex projects from start to finish, ensuring meticulous attention to detail from planning to evaluation.
You will need to be proficient in business planning, performance management, and knowledge of systems that underscore your commitment to excellence in community safety.
