Berkshire Healthcareis looking foraPatientSafetySpecialist(8b)to work within our senior patient safety teamand play a key role inthe local implementation of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy. This will includesupporting thecontinueddevelopmentof our patient safety culture, our safety systemsand improvement activity.
As one of ourPatient Safety Specialistsyou will be regardedas akey patient safety expertandwill work together as a team to ensure all the requirements of thespecialistrole are met.You willprovide dynamic senior leadership,visibilityand expert support to the patient safety work in theorganisation. Youwillbe responsible forleading networks to share good practice and learning both internally and with regional and national groups.
This is a fulltime rolewith the opportunityfor hybrid workingas well as visitingclinical services/sites and joiningthe team at London House for office working days.
• Lead on the implementation of the of the National Patient Safety Strategy– this includescontinuing to embed andfurtherdevelop local implementation of thePatientSafetyIncidentResponseFramework(PSIRF); involving patients and families in patient safety activity;supporting services and the Trustas we progress with theLearn fromPatient Safety Events (LFPSE) service; improving ourinternalpatient safety education and trainingoffer
• Play a lead role in the continued development ofquality andpatientsafety within the Trust to promote harm free care for staff and patients.
• Act as an ambassador for theTrust developing constructive relationships with the Trust, with Governors and all external partners.
• Ensure theTrust meets all required legislation and good practice forresponding to our patient safety incidentsas well as supportingmortality review process

The “must haves” for this role:
• Experience in a senior organisational leadership post covering patient safety and clinical quality
• Skills to influence and engage senior managers and clinicians within the NHSon the subject of patientsafety and compliance
• Understanding andapplication of recommended tools and methodologies for completing patient safety learning responses
• Ability to undertake robust and formal investigations and reviews into patient safety incidentsand produce meaningful and high-quality reports
• Ability to reflect, analyse and interprethighly complexinformation and concisely draw conclusion, making sound judgement and confidently justify decisions made
