Job Duties

This position provides mental health services to inmates including crisis intervention, screening, psychological report writing, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under the supervision and direction of the Psychologist/Mental Health Clinician Senior. Screens, tracks, and monitors inmates with mental health services needs in intake, general population, and Restorative Housing. Involved in the development, implementation, and monitoring of mental health services, policies and programs at the facility. May be involved with special units or programs. Serves as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff. Provides in-service training.
Minimum Qualifications
Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders.
Demonstrated ability to develop intervention and treatment plans.
Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling/therapy.
Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices.
Demonstrated ability to provide training. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health supporting the ability to fulfill the required tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia.
Experience providing mental health services in a correctional, forensic, outpatient or other setting.
Licensed as a clinician, QMHP or be QMHP eligible as dictated by the Code of Virginia
