Key duties and responsibilities of the Academy Health & Wellbeing Officer are:
1. To be the lead for managing and administering medicines.
2. To lead on the provision of First Aid and medical assistance to students and staff at the academy.
3. To play a key role in the ongoing health and welfare of students and staff across the academy.
4. To produce individual Healthcare plans, PEEPS, and Risk Assessments for N Code Children, with support from inclusion teams for children with SEND.
5. Liaise with School Health Teams to administer regular programmes of medical, dental, optical, and auditory testing and immunisation as required.
6. Ensure accident reports and RIDDOR forms are completed in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and that statistics of accidents are produced on a regular basis.

Outwood Academy Carlton is situated in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire, with Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield, and Pontefract all within commuting distance. We are just 5 miles from the M1.
Outcomes for students have improved hugely over the last 5 years across all measures; for example, the proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and mathematics has risen by over 30% during this period. We are now performing at or above the national average across the board. Outcomes will continue to improve, with Ofsted stating that “Attainment and progress demonstrate rapid improvement for current pupils”.
We were delighted to receive a ‘good’ judgement in our Jan 2019 Ofsted inspection. Inspectors recognised that “Staff morale is high” and that “A well-considered programme of professional development ensures that staff continuously improve their skills and knowledge”.
