Job Title: SEMH Support Worker

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant for a school in Warrington. This is a full-time, temporary position until the summer, providing crucial 1:1 support and general assistance to pupils across both primary and secondary age groups.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with varying social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to engage with their education and develop essential life skills. Your role will involve a blend of 1:1 support with individual students as well as supporting the wider classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop positive social and emotional skills.
Assist in creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors with a calm and patient approach.
Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies tailored to the needs of each pupil.
Support both primary and secondary-aged pupils, adapting your approach based on their age, needs, and individual progress.
Build positive relationships with pupilsto promote engagement, confidence, and well-being.
About You:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, or other additional needs, is desirable, but not essential.
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills to engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
A positive and proactive attitude to supporting students’ learning and personal development.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Special Educational Needs experience, or similar) are a plus but not essential.
