Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Automation Technician on behalf of one of our clients. Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities for the Automation Technician:
1. Designing PLC based electrical control systems from design specifications.
2. Programming PLC, touchscreen and safety configurable relay systems.
3. Configuring remote I/O, servo motor and inverter drives.
4. Integrating ancillary equipment into the production lines such as vision systems.
5. Fault finding electrical control systems, PLC and hardwired systems.
6. Commissioning, support and service work at customers' sites.
7. A certain amount of travel is required to support the worldwide customer base.
8. Training will be provided to familiarize the successful applicant with the specialist machinery and equipment used.
9. The successful applicant will also be eligible for a pension scheme and other generous benefits.
10. Working with electricians and panel builders to design and build the control system, and then program and commission the machines at the factory and on site.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Good understanding of electrical drawings, control panel specification/design, PLC programming, touchscreens, and controls.
2. Understanding of vision and SCADA systems.
3. Experience in the pharma industry and/or explosive atmosphere regulations is desirable.
4. Must be willing to travel.
