About the role
The Applications Services Manager is responsible for first line support of the THR / TPD services for TAFE NSW, and leads the applications support team that delivers activities throughout the application lifecycle. This role ensures high-quality, responsive customer service and effective software maintenance, including legacy systems. This role supports new initiatives and implementation, provides expert technical and professional advice to the line manager, and actively contributes to planning, system documentation, and reporting.
The TAFE Human Resources Service (THR) consists of a suite of application modules listed below:
* TPD (TAFE Program Diary): A web-based timetabling system used by Teachers and related staff of TAFE NSW to record teaching and non-teaching hours delivered. Head Teachers and their delegates use TPD to authorise, report, record, and review working hours. Heads of Skills Teams, Team Leaders, Head Teachers use TPD reporting to gain insights into the working hours and activities being undertaken at TAFE NSW.
* ECSA (Enterprise Corporate Systems Archive): Stores data from retired and decommissioned HR and Finance Systems in TAFE NSW previous to the current ERP service, SAP.
* THRES (TAFE HR Employee Screening): Used for conducting TAFE NSW personnel background checks with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) and the National Police Checking Service (NPCS).
* WWCC (Working with Children Check): Used for conducting and storing data related to working with children check activities with the Office of Children’s Guardians.
* TTNS (Timetabling Notification Service): An application that receives incoming data from and allows integration with TAFE NSW’s Student Management System EBS, and TPD.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic leader with extensive experience in managing technical teams to deliver high-quality ICT support and project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in integrating new systems, maintaining legacy applications, and resolving system incidents.
You will have expertise in providing strategic advice on new initiatives, overseeing software change management, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include ICT planning, security, disaster recovery, and maintaining accurate system documentation. Strong leadership skills, a commitment to safety, and a customer-first attitude are essential, along with the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
To be considered for this position you will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Experience in one or more large scale enterprise technologies.
* Sound working knowledge of ICT service management principles and frameworks including ITIL, process tools, frameworks, and best practice methods.
Highly regarded:
* Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Human Resources systems.

You will be managing a large array of enterprise solutions including ERPs and Human Resource systems. Provide an example of an enterprise solution that you have managed in the past. What were the key challenges / issues you faced? How did you resolve these issues effectively and setup for continuous improvement?

A Working with Children Check is a prerequisite for anyone in child-related work. It involves a national criminal history check and review of findings of workplace misconduct.

An eligibility list, valid for 18 months, may be created for this position, and position(s) of the same classification that subsequently becomes vacant, may be filled via this recruitment.
