About the Role
This role will be supporting Daniel, a male in his twenties, who is currently living in his own home in Upton, Poole, Dorset.
Daniel is supported on a 2 to 1 support ratio and has a diagnosis of Autism and a Learning Disability. He also has epilepsy and will need support when he has a seizure. Therefore, we are looking for team members who have a good understanding and previous experience of supporting people with epilepsy.
Daniel enjoys swimming and being encouraged to try new activities within the house and the community. Being independent is very important to him, and he would like his team to support him in planning, cooking healthy meals, and developing his daily living skills further.
When communicating with Daniel, it is important to use positive communication, supported by photos of items/activities, their locations, and plans. He needs people to communicate clearly both verbally and through facial expressions.
Daniel can sometimes get anxious and will need his team members to reassure him during these times, while also recognizing when he needs time by himself.
