A fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent Project Manager role with Smart DCC. The Project Manager can be based in London or Manchester on a hybrid working model. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful start-up, initiation, delivery, and closing of projects, applying appropriate knowledge, skills, tools, techniques, and practice at each stage with effective stakeholder management throughout.
What will you be doing?
1. Start-up: Establishing the outline business case for carrying out the work; putting in place the project management team to deliver the work; and defining the right approach for meeting the project's target outcomes.
2. Initiation: Confirming the business justification for the project through a detailed business case; setting up the project’s controls and reporting mechanisms; and defining project delivery roles and nominating role holders.
3. Delivery: Working within a regulatory framework assigning, monitoring, and delivering work packages required to achieve the project's outcomes; regular progress reporting at project, programme, DCC, and external governance forums; taking corrective actions where necessary to ensure delivery remains within tolerances; and confirmation of continued business justification and acceptance of risks.
4. Closure: Preparing the project for formal closure; handing over the project’s products to the business as usual; and evaluating the project’s performance, recording lessons learnt, and disseminating learnings back into the project and programme delivery community.
5. Engagement: Actively engage internal teams, senior management, third-party suppliers, industry, and Government departments. Demonstrating an ability to manage and influence these stakeholder groups while adhering to the appropriate level of governance required to deliver the project/programme.
What are we looking for?
1. An experienced project manager who can demonstrate credibility and the ability to influence at a high level within their current or previous roles.
2. The candidate will have managed significant £ multi-million projects with multiple stakeholders, customers, and multiple third-party suppliers.
3. Confident interacting at Executive level and passionate about best practice project management disciplines.
4. Demonstrable experience in leading complex business transformation projects, third-party technology delivery, integration projects, or procurement projects.
5. Demonstrable experience of building high-performing project delivery teams and managing others to consistently deliver high-quality project management service.
6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to gain credibility with Executive level stakeholders.
