An excellent opportunity working with a tier one contractor on Highways maintenance projects.
Purpose of the Role and Responsibilities:
1. Safely deliver the Highway, footway and carriageway surface dressing schemes programmes of work.
2. Take full responsibility for operational and commercial matters.
3. Lead a weekly Cost and value review meeting.
4. Understand and promote the Company Policy relating to our clients operations in Surrey.
5. Liaise between senior management, client representatives, commercial team, supervisors, and workforce to ensure works are undertaken to budget and programme while ensuring the absolute highest quality standards are met.
6. Ensure the client representatives are provided with correct documentation including programmes, safe systems of work, and the like in line with current industry standards.
7. Maintain the highest standards of environmental, safety, and health in line with company policy and industry guidelines.
8. Have an excellent understanding of Highways industry standards relating to surface dressing and footway slurry works.
9. Understand the Ringway commercial and finance process of pricing, costing, and billing to ensure accurate and timely orders for works are received from the client and payment for those works are received by utilising the company QS and finance team.
10. Provide advice through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) with the client representatives to ensure designs for works are fit for purpose and buildable.
11. Take charge of the construction process ensuring all milestones of the project are met and adhered to following industry standards to ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 and an excellent understanding of the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM2015).
12. Ensure processes are in place to provide compliant safe systems of work, including temporary works processes, permitting systems applicable to the works, lift plans, and the like. Check and sign off for implementation similar documentation provided by specialist contractors for structures works.
13. Ensure the operational team are trained and competent to undertake the roles required of them.
14. Ensure information is provided to and from the rest of the structures team and contractors and feed information back through the management team to maintain an excellent health and safety culture.
15. Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers for works as the need arises.
16. Conduct site safety tours to ensure good working practices.
Formal Qualifications Required:
1. Current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
2. IOSH / NEBOSH qualification.
3. First Aid at Work.
4. Trade or engineering background.
Skills Required:
1. Competence with using Microsoft Office computer programmes, such as Word, Excel, Project, TEAMS.
Experience Required:
1. At least 5 years experience in a Highways/construction/civil engineering management role.
Knowledge:
1. Demonstrable knowledge of scheme delivery on the highway.
Personal Qualities:
1. Flexible and approachable attitude.
