The Infection Prevention and Control Team at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurse/Practitioner.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and suitably experienced individual. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to work autonomously as well as within a team.
The candidate must be able to travel/drive across all sites as required.
Main duties of the job
* Provide advice and support to Nurses/Midwives/AHPs and multi-disciplinary colleagues within infection prevention and control.
* Work as a highly visible member of the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nursing Team (under the supervision of the site-based Clinical Nurse Specialist/Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist), visiting all wards/departments regularly and participating in all activities related to the identification, prevention, monitoring, and control of healthcare-associated infection.
* Assist in the investigation and control of notifiable diseases and 'alert' organisms.
* Act as an advisor in all matters relating to the prevention and control of infection, where specific medical advice is not required.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Current NMC/HCPC registration.
* Health-related degree relevant to professional registration and area of clinical practice or holds L6 post-registration modules with a plan to complete the degree programme.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and/or recognised course/qualification within infection prevention and control.
* Formal teaching or preceptorship, mentoring qualification including ENB 998/997, or equivalent.
* Member of relevant royal college, professional society.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
* Significant post-graduate healthcare experience across a range of clinical specialties.
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of delivering high-quality clinical care using enhanced skills within infection prevention and control aligned to the four pillars of practice.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent time management and organisational skills.
* IT skills relevant to digital healthcare and role.
* Teaching and facilitation skills.
Governance
* Awareness of professional issues and current Healthcare relating to Quality Governance, NICE, and CQC, GIRFT.
* Awareness of quality governance, clinical effectiveness, patient safety, and patient experience tools to support clinical practice and service improvement.
* Clinical Audit skills and experience relevant to the role.
Personal/Professional Attributes
* Ability to work within a team to achieve goals and motivate others.
* Ability to work under pressure to problem solve, plan, and prioritise care.
