Nurse Associate
Band 4
Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a registered Nurse Associate to join our respiratory service at Great Ormond Street Kangaroo ward.
Kangaroo Ward is a 9-bedded transitional care unit that cares for children and young people with complex medical needs, in preparation for their discharge home. The majority of the children and young people we care for need long-term respiratory support via a tracheostomy and ventilator. We also care for children requiring non-invasive ventilation and nasopharyngeal airways.
Our focus is to provide holistic care in a friendly environment and to act as a bridge between hospital and home, empowering parents and carers with their child’s complex medical needs through teaching and support. We work closely with Leopard Ward (acute respiratory ward) and the Respiratory Sleep Unit.
We are committed to delivering the best care for our patients. The successful candidate will share this commitment and demonstrate our Trust values.
For further information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Jodian Pringle, Kangaroo Ward Manager, via e-mail at knolerhia.pringle@nhs.net.
Main Duties of the Job
We are seeking Qualified Nursing Associates who are flexible, innovative, and highly motivated to join our friendly and dynamic team. Previous experience of caring for children or patients with tracheostomy is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided by our supportive practice development team. We are committed to enabling our staff to take up the many learning opportunities offered by the Trust, providing the support and encouragement necessary to assist those wanting to develop their careers further – this includes access to additional training to enable those Nursing Associates who wish to progress to become Registered Nurses.
So whether you are currently working in a paediatric setting but would like the challenge of working at a world-class children’s hospital, we’d love to hear from you.
