SG Window Systems Ltd is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic apprentice to work alongside their experienced installers in the Wigan area and learn the art of fenestration installation.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
You will be paired up with an experienced installer and given full training on how to fit:
* Bi-folding Doors
* UPVC Windows
* UPVC Doors
* Composite Doors
* You will be using a variety of different tools, including hand and power tools
You will ensure that the new windows fit the space available, enlarging or reducing the space if necessary. We currently work on newbuild sites therefore removal of old windows is rare.
Due to the varied working locations involved with this role, the company has a number of designated pick up points across the wigan area at the following postcodes: WN7 3ED, WN2 4PA, WA3 3WL, WN7 1NX, WN7 4RF
Training will be given on correct installation methods in line with building safety regulations, and Health and Safety regulations. You will also undertake your fenestration installation apprenticeship standard for the duration of your apprenticeship.
The work can involve working at heights, using ladders and scaffolding, and some heavy lifting so please be aware of this when applying for the position.
You will be working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
There may be some working away from home which the company will explain further at the interview.

* Use traditional or digital written methods to communicate with others.
* Communicate with others verbally for example, colleagues and stakeholders.
* Plan order of works, carry out pre-installation checks.
* Prepare and maintain a safe working area.
* Select, check and use hand and power tools and equipment.
* Move, handle and store materials, including loading and unloading of vehicles.
* Identify, install and remove temporary support requirements.
* Remove existing fenestration products.

* Apply external seals for moisture and air penetration. For example, wet sealants, tapes, membranes and any associated products.
* Interim inspection work and rectify or report any work that is incorrect or incomplete.
* Complete final inspections and workplace documentation.
* Complete a customer or site manager handover.
* Check and use working at height equipment for example steps, ladders, hop-ups, and podiums.
* Carry out and record planned and unplanned learning opportunities and development activities.
* Carry out internal and external finishing for example making good any damage, priming, sealing, trimmings, mouldings, backer rod or foam, scribing, trimmings, flashings, perimeter pressings and cladding.
* Prepare openings for installation.
