Job Summary Join Canlan Sports as an Operations Intern and embark on a dynamic learning experience within the largest private-sector owner and operator of recreational sports complexes in North America. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager/General Manager, you'll actively contribute to the daily operations of our facilities, gaining hands-on exposure to tasks such as ice maintenance, facility repairs, scheduling, and staff supervision. Accountabilities Facility Maintenance Support: Assist in performing maintenance tasks in compliance with local building and fire codes. Support ice maintenance tasks, including Engo operation, edger operation, ice depth measurement, ice chopping/spudding, leveling the ice, and ice painting. Repair and Maintenance: Assist in executing maintenance and repair tasks for facility fixtures and components. Provide support for minor electrical, plumbing, drywall repairs, painting, dasher board system repair, arena glass replacement, and hockey net refurbishing. Computer Skills Development: Learn and develop proficient computer skills in Ameresco Asset Planner. Groundskeeping: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and safety of entrances, grounds, and parking lots. Support property and grounds cleanup, grass cutting, edging, seasonal snow and debris removal, and re-lamping of rinks or other fixtures. Equipment Maintenance: Assist in performing minor maintenance on facility and ice maintenance equipment. Support safety checks, cleaning, waxing, blade changes, greasing, oil changes, and other equipment maintenance tasks. Record Keeping: Maintain appropriate checklists, records, and reports related to utility readings, equipment safety checks, janitorial checklists, and other operational tasks. Ice Plant Monitoring: Learn to monitor the ice plant regularly and take appropriate actions for safe operation. Assist in maintaining logs with readings and notes related to oil charge, drain oil, brine/glycol addition, testing for minor ammonia leaks, condenser water level adjustments, and other relevant tasks. Abilities, Attributes and Experience High school education or equivalent (preferred). Valid driver�s license. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Approachable and team-oriented with excellent communication skills. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (preferred). Trade or janitorial experience is an advantage. Organized, self-motivated, and proactive.
